Creation Destruction exhibition in the Holden Gallery

Anya Gallaccio's work in this show is concerned with decay, deconstruction and temporality. It is interesting to see how an artist makes works from a similar theme to ours. I especially like to candle pieces - Untitled (Black Candles) and Untitled (White Candles). They change throughout the duration of the show (6 weeks), in a continual process, so the piece will look different every day, be constantly changing, and destroyed as soon as the show is over. The show will live on only in the memory of the spectators.

Gallaccio's work also challenges the nature of the museum and the gallery space with notions of preservation and collection.

The nature of Mark Lewis' work is similar, but he is interested in derelict buildings, spaces that are in a state of disuse. Failure of a purpose built building, time and temporality. Time is suspended and isolated by the artist.
